Affordable housing is set to be a key election issue and the Federal Government is promoting its signature Housing Australia Future Fund as a critical policy to address the housing crisis. It’s released figures today which show the policy has completed 340 new homes and about 5,400 under construction in the first round. The $10 billion fund which was legislated in 2023, with the support of the Greens, and aims to build 30,000 social and affordable homes over the next five years. The Coalition has vowed to abolish the fund if elected.
