The Mornington Peninsula Shire is seeking input from the local community for a proposed community housing project.
Four Council owned Rosebud sites have been chosen to build up to 19 dwellings, (1 and 2 bedroom self-contained townhouses and apartments) which include:
23 McDowell Street
36 Rosebud Parade
40 Rosebud Parade
1 Spray Street
All land is close to services, amenities, shops, schools and open space.
The structure of the dwellings will blend in with the character of the streetscape and other dwellings in the neighbourhood.
The housing proposal aims to provide safe and secure affordable housing for local women with children on low incomes including women 55+ to support them whilst seeking permanent accommodation.
The Shire is advocating and working with State and Federal Governments and private fundings to secure an estimated $10m to cover the cost of the builds.
PCH believes that providing affordable housing to support those who are at risk of homelessness is paramount to regaining their independence whilst transitioning to more permanent housing.
PCH is backing the proposal and encourages local community members to have a say by providing feedback during the consultation period from 7 May 2025 to 4 June 2025.
Go to mornpen.vic.gov.au/communityhousing for more information on how to contribute and provide feedback.
Together we can make a difference to our vulnerable community members.
